Back up your Mac with Time Machine

Back Up Your MacIf you have anything on your Mac that you would not want to lose, you need a backup plan. Time Machine makes it simple.

Every Mac comes with an excellent backup system called Time Machine, and it is super easy to set up and use. Just connect an external hard drive and let Time Machine do its thing. It will automatically back up your files every hour and provide a way to restore your data if you ever need to. Time Machine does incremental backups so you can go back to a specific point in time to retrieve individual files, or restore everything on your Mac in the event of a hard drive failure.

In a business or home environment with multiple Macs, a macOS Server or Synology NAS (Network Attached Storage) can be set up as the Time Machine destination for all your computers.

It’s so important to protect your data in case you ever have an unrecoverable crash. It’s rare but it does happen, so be prepared.

You can get a good quality external drive to use for your backups at a reasonable price. Amazon has a nice selection of products for this. If you need a recommendation on a backup drive go to the Contact page link above and send us a message.
